William 3 month update
We had an appointment today for William's 3 month well visit and shots. What 3 month shots? You may be asking yourself that, because it turns out there are none scheduled for infants at 3 months! The office made a mistake with the appointment and we should not have come back until he was 4 months. His doctor was surprised to see us, and was nice and offered to refund our co-pay but we just saw her anyway as long as we were there. I had her check his ears and listen to his heart. She was impressed with his head strength. He can hold up his own head really well, turn his neck and look around. He can't sit up yet by himself, but he can balance if we hold him to a standing position and lightly support him. In fact, that's one of his favorite "tricks" to do.
Vital stats of the visit: 17 pounds, 15 1/2 ounces (so in other words, 18 pounds if he would have eaten right before the appointment instead of after!), 26 inches tall, and 16 2/4 inch head. This morning when I went to get him dressed, discovered that he'd had a growth spurt. Almost none of his 3-6 month sized clothes still fit him. He's in the 6 month and 9 month sizes comfortably. Last week, I had to buy him new Robeez in the 6 month size since he'd outgrown the 0-6 month ones. I got these, aren't they cute?
A few weeks ago, I bought him 2 little baby suits that were on sale, to wear to Aunt Andrea's wedding in July. I wasn't sure what size he would be so I guessed and got 18 months and also a 24 months. They didn't have anything smaller, this was Nordstrom Rack in the clearance section after the after-Christmas sale madness, so I was lucky to even find anything at all. But he'll be styling this summer, if he keeps up this growth and fits into them. And he looks like a little miniature banker!

Never a Dull Moment, just a dull blog posting!
Why is it that everything seems to happen at once? Here is some of what's going on here from the past few days, any of which might make an interesting blog post if I had the energy and time to write about them instead of dealing with them:
-car accident-(car totalled, ryan fine)
-dryer broken(wet laundry hanging everywhere all the time),
-baby teething(drool!) and preschooler teething (about to lose 3rd tooth)
-weird technical probs at work (switching servers, our main webpage had somehow gotten reset to a version from 2009.)
-break-in in my garage(stole neighbor's motorcycle) leading to me becoming somehow the HOA liason with LAPD,
-Dyson vacuum broke again (oh, I hate Dyson!)
So here's what we're doing about it:
-Ryan on the phone with insurance companies, me and my dad on Craig's List for new used car
-Visited Fry's for dryer. Yup, made that futile trip to Manhattan Beach but the MB store doesn't carry appliances and I'm not willing to go to Burbank for it. Went to Best Buy, and, my parents decided to buy me the dryer for my birthday.
-Broke out the teething toys for William. No teeth yet but lots of chewing and drool. Lauren chewed on William's brand new Fisher Price teething ring and broke it within 30 seconds so that whatever nontoxic (let's hope!) liquid is inside came spurting out.
-Emailed work people to fix problem and responded to all of the people who emailed me to notify of problem.
-Met with officers from LAPD, assessed the methods thieves use to break in, meeting with welder tomorrow to get even more secure doors with metal boxes around the handles, organized HOA meeting for tomorrow, pricing security camera systems.
-The Dyson? We *feel* like tossing the thing but I want to make Dyson suffer and honor their supposed 5 year warranty so I will make Ryan haul it to some repair center. We're almost 3 years in and this is at least the 4th time it's lost suction. Luckily I bought a back-up Meile at a secondhand store to use when the Dyson is in the shop (They kept it for *months* last time. Our place would have been covered in layers of dust if I couldn't vaccuum during it!)

1 out of every 2...
Tonight I'm feeling a bit shocked because another couple that I know is divorcing. That makes the fourth one I have found out about in the past few months. Statistically, it shouldn't surprise me but yet they always seem to come out of nowhere. It made me hug my husband a little tighter tonight and mental note to make sure not to take him for granted. He's especially sainted in my eyes today because he watched both kids the whole day while I was in the office. This is going to be our new routine, once a week for awhile. We don't want to leave William with a babysitter outside of family/close friends until he's old enough to talk, if we can.
Back to the friends, in two of the cases, they're "friendly" divorces where the wives wanted to have kids and the husband did not so they split up. I think the women thought they could convince their husbands, that they would change their minds eventually. And sadly, I know both of these men would make great fathers, they are honorable, funny, loyal, great friends to me so I know these same traits would make them awesome dads. But that is something they have to feel for themselves. I hope they don't decide, years from now, that they should have had babies with their ex-wives. But I don't tell them that I feel this way. I just nod my head, smile, and listen while they talk about how "we wanted different things" and "it's really for the best".
In another one of the cases, the husband had a whole secret life and the wife was completely devastated when she found out. They have children, they're fighting bitterly for custody, it's very ugly. It's the same old story you've seen on TV a million times, it's just shocking because they both seemed so nice. You would think you could figure out "the type". On TV it would be the guy with the shifty eyes, furtive glances, always "at work". When you find out you actually knew this "type" it's a bit of a jolt.
